Signs of Preparation for Labor

Signs of labor preparation include increased discharge, redness, regular contractions, breaking of amniotic fluid, and frequent urination. 1. Increased secretions: Near the time of labor, the cervical mucus plug falls out, which may be manifested as increased vaginal secretions. 2. Redness: Generally in the 24 to 48 hours before labor, due to the chorionic villous membrane near the endocervix peeling off from the uterine wall, resulting in the rupture of capillaries and a small amount of bleeding phenomenon, mixed with the mucus in the cervical canal and discharged, which is known as redness. 3. Regular contractions: In late pregnancy, if there are regular contractions, which are characterized by tightness and hardness of the stomach, shorter intervals and longer duration, they are called regular contractions, which are also a sign before labor. 4. Breaking of amniotic fluid: When labor is approaching, due to the increased pressure of the uterus, the fetal membranes may rupture and amniotic fluid may flow out, which is called breaking of amniotic fluid. 5. Frequent urination: After the fetus enters the pelvis, the bottom of the uterus will be lowered, and the pregnant woman will feel more comfortable in the upper abdomen, but the descending part of the prenatal dew may press on the bladder, causing frequent urination.
