Does Clarithromycin treat UTIs?

Clarithromycin does not treat UTIs, which are inflammatory conditions caused by gonococcal, or other pathogens such as chlamydia and mycoplasma infecting the urethra, and are divided into gonococcal urethritis and non-gonococcal urethritis. The treatment of UTI is mainly penicillins and cephalosporins, including ceftriaxone sodium and ceftazidime, etc., and macrolides, including azithromycin and roxithromycin, etc. The indications for clarithromycin are mainly lower respiratory tract infections, upper respiratory tract infections, as well as skin and soft tissue infections, and local or diffuse infections caused by Mycobacterium avium or Mycobacterium intracellulare. It can also be used in patients with HIV infection, to prevent mixed infections caused by Mycobacterium avium, and to treat infections caused by Mycobacterium pylori. UTIs are not mentioned among its indications, so clarithromycin is not used in urethritis.
