Do fibroids usually become malignant?

Fibroids are benign tumors that do not usually become malignant. Some patients do not need treatment for life and the fibroma does not increase in size and does not become malignant. If malignancy occurs, it is not a fibroma, but a fibrosarcoma. Fibroids can grow in various places on the body surface, especially where there are many glands, such as the breast. If the fibroid is less than 1 cm in diameter, close observation can be made to see if there is any change in its size, and if there is no change, regular review is sufficient. If the fibroid is larger than 1 cm and is superficial, palpable and shows signs of enlargement, surgery is recommended, and the earlier the surgery, the better. Post-operative pathological examination is needed to check the nature of the tumor.
