U-shaped hysterectomy involves removing as much tissue as possible infiltrated by adenomyosis, preserving the mucosa and plasma membrane of the uterus, sewing the two together to form a new uterus, relieving dysmenorrhea, no or only a small amount of menstruation after surgery, and no further pregnancies, although isolated pregnancies have been reported, with the possibility of recurrence of adenomyosis after surgery.
