There is no such point as Sanzhu, the similarly named Foot Sanli, which is on the outer side of the calf, three inches below the calf’s nose.
Foot Sanli is an acupoint of the Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian, a point of the lower stomach meridian, on the lateral side of the calf, three inches below the calf’s nose, one transverse finger outside the anterior ridge of the tibia, on the line between the calf’s nose and the decubitus.
Foot Sanli can treat epilepsy and other psychosomatic diseases, intestinal carbuncles (carbuncles occurring in the intestines and bowels, manifested by fever, pain in the right side of the abdomen, and palpable lumps), breast carbuncles and other surgical ailments, gastrointestinal disorders such as vomiting, abdominal distension, diarrhea, stomach pain, choking, constipation, and paralysis of the lower extremities (lower extremity weakness, numbness, and pain) as well as deficiency labor conditions.
Acupuncture, moxibustion and bloodletting are not allowed on their own. If there is any discomfort, acupuncture and moxibustion treatment should be carried out under the guidance of a TCM physician, as self-operation may lead to serious consequences.
