What is your mindset when facing nodules?

Tuberculosis (TB) is a major global health problem, and the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 8.6 million people worldwide suffered from TB and 1.3 million died from TB in 2012. China is the second highest burden country in the world, with 1 million new cases of TB, 1.4 million existing cases and 44,000 deaths in 2012, accounting for about 2/3 of the number of TB cases in the Western Pacific region and 1/8 of the world. But there is no need to worry too much about this, because China’s tuberculosis prevention and control efforts have made considerable achievements in recent years. Between 1990 and 2010, China’s tuberculosis burden declined significantly, with the incidence rate falling by an average of 3.4% per year, the prevalence rate halving, and the mortality rate falling by 80%. So, what kind of mindset should an ordinary TB patient have to face in the face of the onslaught of TB? 1. Confidence On the North Sichuan Road in Hongkou District, Shanghai, there is the famous Lu Xun Park and the Lu Xun Memorial Hall, which are very familiar to Shanghai residents. Mr. Lu Xun died at the age of 56, and although the direct cause of death was not tuberculosis, he spent a long period of his life fighting tuberculosis, but he was always optimistic about his condition, and resumed writing when his condition improved slightly. The world’s earliest anti-tuberculosis drug, streptomycin, appeared in 1944. Mr. Lu Xun lived at a time when there were no effective anti-tuberculosis drugs, and treatment at that time was mainly based on convalescence and artificial pneumonia. Therefore, willpower and confidence to conquer the disease are also essential for TB patients. Many of us have read “Dream of the Red Chamber” or watched the film and television productions of “Dream of the Red Chamber”. The depressed Lin Daiyu left a deep impression on us, and according to the book, she died of tuberculosis. Although she is only a fictional character in literature, it reflects the correlation between mental state and disease development. In China, about 500 million people out of 1.3 billion are infected with tuberculosis bacteria, but why only a small number of people will develop the disease, because only when the body’s immunity is reduced, the tuberculosis bacteria will take advantage of the situation, and the mental state directly affects the body’s immunity. Therefore, a healthy, positive and optimistic state of mind will give you a great help. 3. Patience Patients who have taken TB drugs know that the course of anti-TB treatment is long, at least half a year, and even more than 2 years for drug-resistant TB, and cannot be interrupted. Many patients lack sufficient patience and cannot persist and give up leading to irregular medication. In our country, irregular medication is one of the main causes that induce the emergence of drug resistance in tuberculosis bacteria. At the same time, we also recognize the pain caused by the long course of treatment, and a number of clinical studies are being conducted both domestically and internationally to shorten the course of chemotherapy for tuberculosis as much as possible, and new breakthroughs are constantly being made, bringing the gospel to the majority of tuberculosis patients is just around the corner.
