Apical inflammation of the tooth is mainly caused by bacterial infection, and common treatment options include: root canal treatment, incision and drainage of pus, tooth extraction, and so on. It is recommended that the patient consult the doctor as soon as possible and choose the appropriate treatment plan under the doctor’s guidance.
1. Root canal treatment: Root canal treatment is usually chosen to relieve the symptoms of apical inflammation. Root canal treatment requires cleaning and shaping of the root canal, followed by the use of antimicrobial drugs to control the infection, repair the defect, and promote the recovery of the root tip.
2. Incision and drainage: Gum swelling may occur in apical periodontitis, which can be improved by incision and drainage of pus or pulp when necessary.
3. Tooth extraction: Patients with severe destruction of the tooth body and ineffective other treatments may need to have the tooth extracted.
Patients are advised to pay attention to oral hygiene, eat a light diet and avoid spicy and stimulating foods.
