Pharyngitis is two diseases, pharyngitis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane and submucous tissue of the pharynx, and laryngitis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane of the larynx. The two diseases are divided into acute and chronic, and the acute phase is mostly contagious. 1, pharyngitis: acute pharyngitis can be caused by viruses, bacterial infections and environmental factors, etc. Acute pharyngitis caused by viruses, such as coxsackievirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza virus, rhinovirus or influenza virus, etc., caused by bacteria to streptococcus, staphylococcus and diplococcus pneumoniae, can be transmitted through droplets or close contact. Chronic pharyngitis is caused by various chronic inflammation of the nose or upper respiratory tract, irritating diet, tobacco, alcohol, dust, harmful gases, etc., mainly manifested as local symptoms of the pharynx, generally not contagious. 2. Laryngitis: Acute laryngitis mostly occurs after a cold, first as a cold virus infection, then as a secondary bacterial infection, manifested as hoarseness, coughing and phlegm, sore throat, breath-holding and other symptoms. Laryngitis itself is not contagious, but the cold virus can be transmitted to others, and if others do not treat the cold in time, there is a possibility of secondary laryngitis. Chronic laryngitis is usually caused by excessive use of voice, long-term inhalation of harmful gases or dust, and chronic inflammation of the nose and pharynx, and is usually not contagious. As mentioned above, laryngitis can be transmitted through droplets or close contact during the acute phase, but is not contagious during the chronic phase.
