Water flowing from incision of esophageal cancer is considered to be related to wound infection, lymphatic leakage, anastomotic fistula and so on. 1. Wound infection: if esophageal cancer patients do not pay attention to skin care after surgery, which induces bacterial, viral and other pathogens’ infection, they are prone to wound running. In addition to running water, it is easy to be accompanied by other uncomfortable symptoms such as local swelling, pain, fever, etc., which affects the recovery of health. 2. Lymphatic leakage: If the local lymphatic vessels are damaged during surgery, prompting the lymphatic fluid to be exposed and accumulate under the skin, it can be manifested as the phenomenon of running water at the incision site after surgery. Lymphatic leakage is a common postoperative complication, which can be improved by drainage with the doctor. 3. Anastomotic fistula: anastomotic fistula is a common and serious postoperative complication of esophagitis. The disease is mainly related to surgical operation, local infection of anastomosis and excessive tension after anastomosis. In addition to running water, it is easy to be accompanied by violent cough, dyspnea, toxic shock, and even life-threatening. It is suggested that people with esophageal cancer with running wound should consult doctor for examination so as to clarify the cause of disease and then follow the doctor’s instruction for treatment. Pay attention to surgical wound care in daily life and avoid foreign body friction and stimulation.
