Head tilt (dorsiflexion) is an important sign in the diagnosis of children in the early stages, especially before 1-5 months of age. Head tilt is defined as dorsiflexion of the head during waking hours with marked opposition and limited forward flexion, which is exacerbated by crying. Head tilting during sleep or head tilting during waking hours without neck confrontation is not an abnormal sign, and children older than 5 months with head tilting symptoms and inability to bend forward or unstable head control are highly suspected to be at high risk for cerebral palsy and require early intervention.
