What does amebic liver abscess mean?

Amebic liver abscess is a complication caused by intestinal infection with amoebic protozoa, and non-surgical treatment is first considered for treatment, and surgery is performed if it is ineffective. Amebic liver abscess is most common in young and middle-aged people, secondary to amoebic dysentery, and is a complication of intestinal amoebic infection. The main clinical manifestations include fever, night sweats, etc. The serology is positive for amoebic antibodies, and some patients can find amoebic trophozoites or encapsulated bodies in the feces. For amebic liver abscess, the current treatment is mainly considered non-surgical treatment, oral metronidazole, chloroquine and other anti-amoebic drugs, if necessary, percutaneous hepatic puncture drainage treatment; for the conservative treatment is ineffective, complication of pus thorax and peritonitis, surgical treatment can be considered.
