How swollen squash is caused

Swollen squash, also known as mumps, is caused by infection with a virus, and the route of infection is mainly through droplet transmission. It manifests as swelling on both sides of the face centered on the earlobes, unclear borders, surface heat, and significant pain when chewing and opening the mouth. Oral examination reveals marked redness and swelling of the parotid duct opening and parotid papillae, with inflammatory secretions spilling out. In the early stages of the disease, patients may experience generalized fever, malaise, and anorexia. Treatment can be done by applying topical Chinese herbs to the swollen area to relieve the symptoms and taking oral medications such as virazole, ribavirin, daphyllanthus, and panacea.
