Macular break is generally referred to as macular cleft. Macular cleft is a full-layer neuroepithelial loss in the center of the macula caused by factors such as pulling on the macula by contraction of the posterior vitreous cortex or ocular trauma, etc. At the early stage of the disease, patients may be asymptomatic, and with the development of the disease, patients may experience decreased visual acuity, central dark spot, and diminished color vision. There is no effective drug treatment for macular degeneration, and patients need to undergo surgery such as vitrectomy, inner retinal membrane inversion coverage, lens capsulorhexis transplantation, etc. Most of the patients can regain or improve their visual function after treatment, but due to the large individual differences and different treatment plans, there may still be recurrence after surgery. Patients are advised to strictly follow the medication prescribed by the doctor after surgery and go to the hospital for regular rechecks.
