Treatment of hand, foot and mouth disease

Treatment for HFMD includes general treatment as well as medication.
1. General treatment: Children need to be isolated until their body temperature is normal and the rash subsides, and all articles used should be sterilized by soaking in chlorine-containing disinfectant and boiling. When there is erosion in the mouth, the child should be fed with liquid food. Children should rinse their mouths with warm water after each meal. Pay attention to skin protection, children should have sufficient rest.
2. Drug treatment
(1) Antiviral drugs: broad-spectrum antiviral drugs, such as ribavirin, are recommended in the early stage. Adverse effects of ribavirin include nausea, diarrhea, headache, vomiting and fatigue.
(2) Vasoactive drugs: vasodilators such as milrinone are used according to changes in circulation and blood pressure in children. Dopamine, norepinephrine and other drugs are applied when blood pressure drops.
(3) Gammaglobulin: Gammaglobulin can be used as appropriate when there are symptoms of encephalomyelitis and persistent high fever. Selective IgA deficiency with IgA antibody is prohibited.
(4) Glucocorticosteroids: Glucocorticosteroids, such as prednisone and hydrocortisone, should be used as appropriate for those with encephalomyelitis and persistent high fever.
If there are any uncomfortable symptoms, it is necessary to go to the hospital as soon as possible, and the doctor will formulate individualized diagnosis and treatment plan according to the specific condition, so as to avoid delaying the condition. The choice and use of drugs should be under the guidance of a doctor, and should not be taken by oneself.
