Ferrous sulfate is mainly applied to iron deficiency anemia caused by chronic blood loss, malnutrition, pregnancy and other factors, supplementing the body with iron and replenishing raw materials for hematopoiesis.
Commonly used preparations of ferrous sulfate include ferrous sulfate tablets, ferrous sulfate extended-release tablets, etc., which are mainly administered by oral intake.
For ferrous sulfate tablets, adults take 0.3g each time, 3 times a day, after meals. For ferrous sulfate extended-release tablets, adults take 0.45g once, twice daily. When taking it, avoid taking it at the same time with strong tea and coffee, avoid taking it at the same time with penicillamine, and do not overdose.
When treating anemia, generally after the hemoglobin returns to normal, it is still necessary to continue to take ferrous sulfate for one month to replenish the body’s iron stores. Adverse reactions such as allergy, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, and black stools may occur with ferrous sulfate. Active peptic ulcer, repeated blood transfusion, hemolytic anemia, allergy is prohibited.
