The difference between a broken ankle and a sprain

The difference between an ankle fracture and a sprain is mainly reflected in the following aspects: First, there is a difference in the size of the violence of the injury, in terms of force, the force of the ankle fracture is greater. Secondly, the symptoms after the injury will be different. After the ankle fracture, there will be obvious ankle swelling, pain and activity disorder within a short time, and the bone rubbing sensation of the ankle fracture can be touched, while the pain and swelling of the ankle sprain will be slower and lighter compared with the fracture, and the range of activity will be limited to a certain extent, but it will not be so obvious as the obstacle of the range of activity. Thirdly, during the X-ray examination, the fracture line of the ankle can be clearly seen, and there is even obvious misalignment, while the ankle sprain has no bones and other problems, and the continuity of the whole bone is intact. Fourth, after the diagnosis is confirmed, the treatment of these two diseases will also be very different. A serious fracture dislocation requires surgical fixation, and a less serious one must at least be protected by external fixation in a cast.
