There are individual differences in how long the herpes zoster virus, varicella zoster virus (VZV), survives in the body. It mainly causes chickenpox and herpes zoster. 1. Chickenpox: Most patients are first infected with VZV causing chickenpox, usually with an incubation period of 14 days, the disease is self-limiting and often recovers on its own after 1~2 weeks of onset, but VZV can continue to incubate in the human ganglia. Chickenpox patients can be used externally with glycerite lotion to play the role of astringent itching, and at the same time follow the doctor’s instructions oral acyclovir tablets and other antiviral therapy. 2. Herpes zoster: after the first VZV chickenpox, VZV can be latent in the human ganglion, when the body’s immune system is reduced herpes zoster, the course of the disease is about 2 to 3 weeks, but the elderly immunity, the condition may be heavier, longer. Patients may be treated with antiviral medications, nutritive nerve medications, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs as prescribed. A very small number of people with strong resistance, who have low viral loads, will be cleared of VZV with regular antiviral therapy, such as the use of acyclovir and vasiclovir, but the VZV virus can continue to incubate in the body after chickenpox in most populations. Patients infected with herpes zoster virus need to do a good job of isolation measures, and timely access to regular hospitals, under the guidance of the doctor to standardize the use of drug therapy.
