Screening for hyperemesis gravidarum, or gestational hypertension syndrome, includes testing blood pressure and other ancillary tests such as blood and urine tests.
Gestational hypertension syndrome, or hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, refers to a series of disorders that are specific to women during pregnancy, most often seen in primigravida, including having gestational hypertension, pre-eclampsia, eclampsia and so on. Eclampsia is a condition that occurs when a pregnant woman becomes comatose and has generalized convulsions in late pregnancy or at the time of delivery, and is more likely to occur in patients with gestational hypertension and pre-eclampsia.
With technological discoveries, it is now possible to predict the risk of developing preeclampsia in early pregnancy, and oral aspirin is required for prevention in those at high risk.
Screening for hypertensive syndrome of pregnancy is important to protect the lives of pregnant women and fetuses.
