How to treat thyroid cysts

Thyroid cysts can be treated by regular checkups, medication, aspiration and surgery.
1. Regular checkups: Most thyroid cysts are benign. If the cysts are small or there are no clinical symptoms, usually no treatment is needed, and regular checkups of thyroid function in the hospital are sufficient.
2. Drug treatment: thyroid cysts that are clearly benign can be treated with ultrasound-guided local injection of sclerosing agent under the guidance of doctors, which has good clinical efficacy.
3. Puncture and aspiration treatment: Under ultrasound guidance, puncture and aspiration of cysts can be carried out according to the doctor’s instruction, and the contents of the cysts can be extracted to reduce the size of the cysts. This operation is less traumatic to patients and can be repeated.
4. Surgery: If the thyroid cyst is malignant by fine needle aspiration cytology, or if the cyst rapidly increases in size, and pressure symptoms such as dyspnea, choking on food, dysarthria, etc. appear, timely surgical resection should be adopted.
It is recommended that patients who have been diagnosed with thyroid cysts should go to regular hospitals in time.
