Talking about rhinitis when the autumn breeze starts

As the autumn breeze rises and the leaves turn yellow, the number of patients seeking treatment for rhinitis in the clinic has increased significantly. Many patients are suffering from the seemingly minor problem of rhinitis, and more are discouraged by the fact that medication is not always effective. In fact, rhinitis is not that stubborn and unbreakable, and the right treatment and lifestyle habits can improve the symptoms very well. Chronic rhinitis is a chronic inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and is divided into several types: chronic simple rhinitis, chronic hypertrophic rhinitis, atrophic rhinitis and allergic rhinitis (commonly known as allergic rhinitis). Clinically, simple rhinitis, hypertrophic rhinitis and allergic rhinitis are common. Hypertrophic rhinitis often requires surgery because of the hyperplastic hypertrophy of the mucosa and turbinate bone due to long-term chronic inflammatory stimulation of the nasal mucosa, while the other two rhinitis are treated mainly with medications. Because of the increasing number of allergic diseases (allergic diseases) in modern society due to the widespread use of antibiotics, rhinitis is no different, and many of the patients we encounter in the clinic are allergic, or simply have a mixture of allergic rhinitis. For such patients, nasal hormones are the mainstay of treatment recommended at home and abroad. These drugs can control local inflammation, reduce vasodilation, and decrease exudation, thus improving symptoms such as nasal congestion, nasal itching, and runny nose. Many patients worry about the side effects caused by hormonal drugs, but in fact, these drugs are very safe, on the one hand, the absorption of local application systemically is very small, so that on the other hand, the safety of the drugs is verified, and the observation of children who apply nasal hormones does not reveal any effect on growth and development. Combined with saline nasal drops and Chinese herbal medicine, most of the patients’ symptoms can be well relieved. In addition to medication, it is also important to pay attention to lifestyle habits. For example, regular physical exercise is beneficial, especially jogging and other exercises in the morning during the cold season, which can make the nasal cavity’s ability to adjust to the outside world more adaptable. In addition, the author’s own experience is to insist on cold showers in autumn is a good way to exercise, but of course, this activity should be done according to their own physical condition.
