In general, breast color ultrasound can be performed during menstruation.
About 10 days after the end of menstruation is the best time for breast color ultrasound, but there is no clear time limit in clinical practice, so ultrasound can be performed during menstruation.
There are cyclical changes in estrogen and progesterone in a woman’s body, causing cyclical shedding of the endometrium, i.e., the menstrual cycle, and at the same time there are cyclical changes in the breasts. About 10 days after the end of menstruation, the mammary glands are in a more stable state, which is the best time for breast ultrasound examination, and can avoid the swelling and pain during the examination as well as the influence of tissue edema on the accuracy of the examination.
However, in clinical practice, breast ultrasound can be performed at any time of the menstrual cycle and there is no need to wait for the optimal examination time.
It is recommended that patients visit a regular hospital and under the guidance of the ultrasound physician to undergo the relevant examination.
