Rectal polyp refers to the rectal mucosa to the intestinal lumen of multiple prominent elevated lesions, may be small wart buds, patients with multiple polyps between 0.3 ~ 0.5cm in diameter.
The etiology of rectal polyps is not clear, and they can be pathologically divided into adenomatous polyps, inflammatory polyps, misshapen polyps, and other pyogenic polyps. Multiple polyps with a diameter of less than 5 mm are often considered hyperplastic polyps, which are the most common benign intestinal polyps and generally do not require special treatment, but in order to distinguish them from tumor polyps, colonoscopic resection is required, and histopathological examination is performed to rule out the associated risks.
Patients should undergo regular colonoscopy, and try to have polyps removed when conditions permit, to clarify their histopathologic typing and to avoid further malignant transformation of polyps.
