Patchy shadow seen in the left lung of chest radiograph may be caused by pneumonia, tuberculosis, lung cancer and so on.
1. Pneumonia, as the most common cause, due to bacterial, viral or fungal infection, can cause local inflammatory reaction, tissue edema, exudation, necrosis, etc., which may appear as patchy shadow in the left lung when chest imaging examination is performed.
2. Tuberculosis, due to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, can also lead to specific inflammation in the lungs, which is essentially type IV hypersensitivity reaction, tissue proliferation, necrosis, mechanization, adhesion, especially in the early stage of tuberculosis, and often appear as patchy manifestations with unclear boundaries.
3. Lung cancer, early imaging manifestations of malignant tumors include burr sign, lobulation sign, pulling sign, etc., which are in line with the description of patchy shadow, and timely pathological examination is needed for clarification.
Patchy shadow on chest radiograph of the left lung needs timely medical attention to clarify the specific cause of the disease, and at the same time, treatment according to the doctor’s instructions.
