Can you have children with heart disease?

It is possible to have a child with heart disease. However, before pregnancy with heart disease, the function of the heart needs to be evaluated in relation to the type and severity of the heart disease before determining whether to become pregnant. There are many types of heart disease, such as congenital heart disease, rheumatic heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy, and so on. Therefore, first of all, an electrocardiogram and ultrasound of the heart should be done to see what kind of heart disease is present and how the heart is functioning. If it is congenital heart disease or rheumatic heart disease, it is better to cure the heart disease by interventional or surgical treatment before getting pregnant, and then you can safely get pregnant. In case of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or dilated cardiomyopathy, the heart function is not good, in this case, the burden on the heart increases after pregnancy, which is dangerous for the life of the pregnant woman, in this case, it is better not to have children. In other words, whether or not a heart patient can have a child needs to be assessed in the context of the type and degree of heart disease, and cannot be generalized.
