The causes of bone age greater than the actual age are divided into physiological and pathological factors (e.g. adrenocortical hyperplasia or tumors). Physiological factors generally do not require treatment, while treatments for disease-induced causes generally include medication and surgery. 1. Physiological factors: If the difference of bone age minus actual age is within ±1 year, it belongs to normal range and no treatment is needed. Eat more calcium-rich substances such as milk or take vitamin D supplement. 2. Pathological factors: If the difference of bone age minus actual age is more than 1 year, it is called precocious puberty. The causes of precocious puberty should be identified. (1) Adrenocortical hyperplasia or tumor: commonly used drugs include mitotane, amiloride, mifepristone. Surgery is feasible if there is an indication for surgery. (2) Precocious puberty: if it is caused by tumor, it should be surgically removed. Commonly used drugs include leuprolide and treprostinil. (3) Alreb-ert syndrome: this disease mainly adopts symptomatic treatment, and there is no cure. For those with bone abnormalities, bisphosphonates can be applied to inhibit bone resorption. In addition to the above diseases, hyperthyroidism and ovarian tumors can also cause the above symptoms. If pathological bone growth occurs, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time to identify the cause of the disease and give targeted treatment. The above drugs should be applied under the guidance of a doctor or pharmacist, avoiding self-medication.
