The differences between schizophrenia and depression are mainly the following: 1. Clinical manifestations: schizophrenia is divided into schizophrenia with predominantly positive symptoms and schizophrenia with predominantly negative symptoms. Patients with schizophrenia with predominantly positive symptoms show sensitivity, paranoia, self-talk, bizarre behavior, babbling, running around, impulsive behavior, hallucinations, delusions, etc. Patients with schizophrenia with predominantly negative symptoms mainly show emotional indifference, behavioral withdrawal, impoverished thinking, reduced speech, and isolation. Patients with depression mainly show depressed mood, lethargy, decreased interest, worse than death, low self-esteem, etc.; 2. Disease severity: schizophrenia patients are heavier than depression in psychiatric and psychological disease diagnostic categories; 3. Disease course characteristics: schizophrenia patients have a slow onset and persistent disease course. Patients with depression are intermittent and will remit on their own at some stage of the disease, but will also have a relapse shortly thereafter; 4. Prognosis: Patients with schizophrenia have a relatively poor prognosis, while patients with depression have a relatively good prognosis.
