Can pneumonia heal on its own?

The ability of a patient with pneumonia to recover depends on the severity of the lung lesions. If the lesions are more limited in scope, there is a possibility of self-healing; if the lesions in the lungs are more diffuse and more extensive, active anti-infective treatment is needed. Clinical assessment of the severity of pneumonia, if the patient’s vital signs appear unstable or accompanied by respiratory failure, need to pay enough attention to give active anti-infective treatment. Pneumonia requires early detection and treatment, and antibiotics are usually used, with erythromycin and doxycycline as the first choice. For chlamydial infections, fluoroquinolones, such as toloxacin, are generally used, and treatment must be adequate to prevent recurrence, and mechanical ventilation is needed to maintain the patient’s oxygenation status if necessary. Therefore, the overall state of pneumonia needs to be assessed individually in relation to the patient’s condition and a targeted treatment plan is given to ensure that the patient is treated in an orderly manner.
