The scope of application of the ten-day rabies observation method includes the following two main points: 1. The observation method is limited to domesticated animals such as dogs and cats, and the bitten person needs to have a history of vaccination with rabies vaccine more than twice. 2. The bitten person also needs to be evaluated for a variety of factors, such as the epidemiologic characteristics of rabies in the region (e.g., whether it is prevalent or not); for example, the type of wounds of the bitten person and the severity of wound exposure, and so on, and generally rabies vaccination is recommended for wounds with more than II degree of exposure. It should be noted that the ten-day observation period of the ten-day observation method for rabies does not imply mere observation, but rather, it is recommended that the bitten person be vaccinated against rabies immediately, and then the biting animal be placed under substantial isolation and observation; if the biting animal does not develop disease and die during the observation period, the bitten person may be considered for termination of the vaccine continuation if the above conditions are met.
