What is neurotrophic factor?

Neurotrophic factors are protein molecules produced by nerve-innervated tissues (e.g., muscle) and astrocytes that are required for neuronal growth and survival. Neurotrophic factors usually enter nerve endings by receptor-mediated entry into the cytosol, and then arrive at the cytosol via reverse axoplasmic transport to promote cytosolic synthesis of the relevant proteins, thus exerting their role in supporting neuronal growth, development, and functional integrity. Neurotrophic factor is the drug that nourishes the nerves, and the common ones are coenzyme A, vitamin B1, vitamin B12, vitamin b6, methylcobalamin, tetrahexose monosialoglucoside sodium ganglioside and so on. It is recommended to take them under the guidance of a medical professional and not to abuse them.
