What can an ultrasound of the lymph nodes in the neck reveal?

Ultrasound of the cervical lymph nodes can look at the size, location, mobility, adhesion and internal blood flow of the lymph nodes and make a preliminary judgment of their goodness or badness. Normally, cervical lymph nodes are not palpable, but if they are palpable, it proves that there are enlarged cervical lymph nodes. Common causes include inflammation near the neck, such as pharyngitis, colds, tonsillitis, rhinitis and other infections, sometimes also due to scratching of the scalp, hair coloring and other causes of lymph node enlargement in the corresponding area, or cervical lymph node tuberculosis. If the structure of lymph nodes is not clear, it may be metastasis of tumor, which can be guided by ultrasound to locate the enlarged lymph nodes for puncture biopsy, and the cause of enlarged lymph nodes can be clarified through pathological examination. If there is any discomfort, it is recommended to go to regular hospitals for diagnosis and treatment under the guidance of professionals.
