Liver Tonic Soup Recipe

Liver Tonifying Tang is mainly composed of Angelica Sinensis, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae Praeparata, Radix et Rhizoma Papaya and Fructus Jujubaeae. Liver Tonifying Tang is a Chinese medicine formula that belongs to the category of blood tonic. It is composed of Angelica sinensis, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Rhizoma Ligustici, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae Praeparata, Radix et Rhizoma Papaya, Radix Jujubae Jubaeaeae Sulphate, and has the efficacy of tonifying the liver, nourishing the tendons and brightening the eyes. This formula is not to be used if there is deficiency of Yin, dryness and heat, or if there is dampness-heat and spleen obstruction. In this formula, Four Substances Tang tonifies and regulates Blood to nourish the liver; Sour Jujube Seed is sweet and calm to nourish the heart and tranquilize the mind (through nourishing the heart to stabilize the mind); Papaya is sour and warm to relax the tendons and activate the channels (stretching the tendons and bones and dredging the channels) to nourish the liver; Roasted Glycyrrhiza glabra regulates and benefits the vital energy and harmonizes all the medicines (harmonizing the properties of different Chinese medicines). If the blood is deficient, you can add shouwu and wolfberry; if the qi is deficient, you can add astragalus and dangshen.
