Niu Qi is a Chinese herb called Niu Knee, which can remove blood stasis, tonify the liver and kidney, strengthen the muscles and bones, and diuretic and lymphatic. Niu Qi has the effects of expelling blood stasis and clearing the channels (removing blood stasis and clearing the channels), tonifying the liver and kidney, strengthening the tendons and bones, inducing diuresis and gonorrhea (improving the problem of dribbling in urine and the problem of small amount of urine not being passed), and inducing the blood to flow downward. It is used in treating menorrhagia, dysmenorrhea, lumbar and knee pain, weakness of muscles and bones, gonorrhea (increased frequency of urination, astringent pain in urination), edema, headache, vertigo, toothache, mouth sores, vomiting blood, epistaxis. It is also contraindicated in the treatment of hyperactivity of the middle chi (deficiency of spleen and stomach chi, manifestation of viscera and bowels falling down, etc.), deficiency of spleen and diarrhea (diarrhea caused by weakness of the spleen), failure of the lower element to stabilize the lower element (deficiency of kidney chi leading to spermatorrhea, premature ejaculation, and urination, etc.), dreaming and slippery spermatozoa, excessive menstruation, and in pregnant women.
