The medicinal effects of Cang Er Zi are dispersing wind-cold, clearing nasal orifices, expelling wind and removing dampness (removing wind and dampness from the body). Used for wind-cold headache, nasal abyss (mainly manifested as filthy nasal mucus, the amount of wipe not clean) runny, wind rash itching, damp paralysis contracture. Cang Er Zi is a pungent and warm antidepressant, with pungent flavor, bitter, warm nature, small toxicity, and belongs to the lung meridian. It is mainly used in the treatment of exogenous wind-cold, nasal congestion and runny nose; headache caused by nasal abyss, poor sense of smell, runny nose; rheumatic paralysis. Cang Er Zi can be combined with ephedra to enhance the efficacy of dispersing wind-cold and clearing nasal orifices; with Wei Ling Xian to dispel wind-dampness and clear the meridians; and with Fang Feng to dispel wind and relieve itching (to relieve itching by dispelling wind evils that invade the surface of the muscle). It should be noted that the adverse effects of this product are not clear, because of toxicity, should not be taken in excess; pregnant women should be cautious; because of the pungent, warm, bitter and dry, so the use of blood deficiency headache should not be used.
