Must CNS Neuroblastoma Recur Without Radiotherapy After Grade II Surgery?

CNS neuroblastoma does not necessarily recur without radiotherapy after secondary surgery. If the surgical treatment is complete, the chances of recurrence are not high; if the surgical treatment is less effective, it is prone to recurrence. CNS neuroblastoma is a small cell neuronal tumor. Usually, CNS neuroblastoma does not necessarily recur after secondary surgery without radiotherapy, which needs to be determined according to the actual situation and cannot be generalized. For patients with complete removal of the tumor by surgical treatment, the chance of recurrence is generally not high without postoperative radiotherapy. However, for patients with inappropriate removal of tumor by surgical treatment, if radiotherapy is not taken in time after surgery, they are prone to recurrence to a certain extent, mainly because of the possibility of continuous infiltration and growth of the tumor. Since CNS tumors are more sensitive to radiotherapy, postoperative radiotherapy is routinely required to strengthen the effect of surgical treatment. In conclusion, patients with grade 2 CNS tumors need to actively cooperate with their doctors to carry out standardized treatments and follow up on time.
