Symptoms of hypoalbuminemia

In hypoalbuminemia there is ascites, or edema of both lower extremities. Albumin plays a role in maintaining the colloidal osmotic pressure in the body. We all know that the electrolytes within the blood, such as sodium, potassium, and chloride ions play a role in the crystal osmotic pressure, and if too much light saline or saline or high sodium chloride fluids are consumed, this can lead to an increase in crystal osmotic pressure. When the albumin is low, the colloid osmotic pressure decreases, and the water in the blood tends to leak out into the tissues around the blood vessels, forming ascites if it leaks into the abdominal cavity, or subcutaneous edema if it leaks into the skin.
