Upper body zinging hand pain from a head fall may be related to a combined cervical spinal cord injury following head trauma.
Pins and needles pain in the upper body and hands may be a result of nociceptive sensitization, which is usually rare in simple head fall injuries. If there is a combination of cervical spinal cord injury at the time of the head fall, there will be hyperalgesia and severe pain in the upper extremities as well as in the hands and other areas. A more definitive diagnosis can be made by physical examination and MRI of the neck.
If the upper limbs and hands are hypersensitive to pain, strict bed rest, neck braking, hormones such as methylprednisolone shock, and neurotrophic drugs such as methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin can be used for treatment.
If a head fall causes pins and needles pain in the upper body and hands, patients are advised to go to the hospital for medical examination, improve the examination and receive regular treatment.
