What to do if your foot hurts from a bunion

Patients with bunions causing foot pain can be treated in the following ways: First, orthopedic tape fixation: mild bunions can be fixed with orthopedic tape and silicone pads between the 1st and 2nd toes, which can relieve foot pain symptoms. Second, surgical treatment: Severe bunions need to be considered for surgical treatment. Cutting off the bunion muscle, overlapping and suturing the medial joint capsule of the bunion, along with local wedge-shaped bone grafting, can provide complete relief of the bunion pain symptoms. Generally, after surgery, patients need to avoid weight-bearing on the affected limb and resume weight-bearing only after the local bone and ligaments have completely healed, otherwise the symptoms are likely to recur. Therefore, patients with bunions producing foot pain should decide on the treatment according to different severity, so that the clinical symptoms can be satisfactorily controlled as soon as possible.
