Why do you need tetanus for glass puncture

A glass puncture does not require tetanus in all cases, unless the patient with the glass puncture has no previous history of full tetanus vaccine immunization, or is unaware of it himself, or has not been fully regular with the injection. Then the glass puncture wound is a severely contaminated wound, then the entire tetanus vaccine needs to be re-immunized, and on top of that, the tetanus antitoxin should be administered intramuscularly. Other than that, most cases do not require tetanus antitoxin or TAT, but only a tetanus booster or a full tetanus vaccination. The use of tetanus antitoxin is now very limited to patients with a narrow range of indications.
