Newborns not pulling meconium may be related to physiological reasons such as insufficient feeding, or pathological reasons such as anal atresia and congenital megacolon. 1. Physiological reasons: Insufficient milk intake leads to milk being quickly absorbed by the stomach and intestines after eating, and less food residue is formed, which can lead to the phenomenon of not pulling meconium within 24 hours after birth. 2. Pathological causes: children with anal atresia usually have no obvious abnormality at birth, but they develop low intestinal obstruction manifestations, such as abdominal distension, abdominal pain and other symptoms in the first 24~48 hours after birth. Newborns with congenital megacolon lack ganglion cells in the distal part of the colorectum and are unable to peristalsis normally, making the intestinal contents unable to be discharged normally and piling up in the intestines, most often in the first 24~48 hours after birth, no or only a small amount of fetal stools are discharged. It is recommended that newborns who do not pass meconium for more than 24 hours should go to the hospital for a clear explanation of the cause and standardized treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
