Can famotidine be used with rabeprazole?

Famotidine and rabeprazole do not usually need to be taken together. Both are drugs that inhibit stomach acid secretion, but some patients who experience nighttime acid breakthroughs with rabeprazole can add one dose of famotidine before bedtime. Famotidine belongs to the Hâ‚‚ receptor inhibitors, which can inhibit the secretion of gastric acid, thus treating diseases such as peptic ulcer. It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to the product, pregnant and lactating women, and patients with severe renal insufficiency; it is used with caution in patients with hepatic or renal insufficiency, cardiac disorders, children, and the elderly. Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, irreversible covalent binding with proton pump, causing gastric acid secretion inhibition. Compared with Famotidine, the acid suppression effect is more persistent and powerful. When taking the drug once a day, the time of taking the drug should be 0.5-1 hour before meal; when taking the drug twice a day, the time of taking the drug should be 0.5-1 hour before breakfast and dinner respectively, in order to ensure the best efficacy of the drug. It should be noted that both Famotidine and Rabeprazole should be used under the guidance of a doctor and should not be used without authorization.
