How long is jaundice considered acute

Jaundice hepatitis is usually counted as acute within 6 months. The typical clinical manifestations of acute jaundice hepatitis are staged, divided into 3 phases, and the duration of the disease is usually about 2~6 months or less. The phases are pre-jaundice, which lasts an average of 5-7 days; jaundice, which lasts 2-6 weeks; and recovery, which lasts an average of 4 weeks. When the duration of acute jaundice hepatitis is more than six months, it is chronic hepatitis. Patients with acute hepatitis should firstly take regular work and rest, reasonable diet and quit smoking and drinking, and can take medicines under doctor’s guidance to protect liver, relieve bile and reduce jaundice, such as anti-inflammatory choleretic tablets or glycyrrhizic acid preparation, etc. In case of viral hepatitis, the patient should take medicines under doctor’s guidance. In case of viral hepatitis, isolation measures such as blood and body fluids should be carried out during the acute stage to avoid viral transmission. Patients with acute jaundice hepatitis should go to the hospital in time to find out the cause of the disease and be treated as early as possible under the guidance of doctors to avoid serious consequences.
