What causes a y-shaped endometrium?

Normally, the endometrium will show a Y shape in the middle under ultrasound. If it is Y-shaped, it means that there is a layer of separation in the middle of the endometrium, i.e. uterine mediastinum, which is usually caused by uterine mediastinum and double uterus.
1. Longitudinal uterine septum: It is a congenital malformation of uterine development caused by the obstruction of absorption of the bilateral paramedian tubes after fusion in the fetal period, and the uterine lining is in the shape of a Y at this time.
2. Double uterus: due to abnormal development of the uterus, patients may have two uterine bodies and cervixes, the vagina is also completely separated, and the left and right side of the uterus each have a single fallopian tube and ovary, in which case the endometrium is in a Y-shape.
A Y-shaped endometrium is a uterine abnormality that may affect fertility or lead to recurrent miscarriages, so it is recommended to go to the hospital for relevant examinations.
