Does mild anemia require treatment?

Mild anemia caused by disease factors needs to be treated or it will only get progressively worse.
Mild anemia refers to the concentration of hemoglobin in peripheral blood of human body which is more than 90g/L and less than 120g/L. Anemia can be divided into iron deficiency anemia, megaloblastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia, anemia caused by pernicious blood diseases and so on according to the etiology.
1. Iron deficiency anemia: oral or intravenous iron supplements should be given (e.g. oral iron supplements include ferrous sulfate, iron dextrose, ferrous gluconate, etc.; intravenous iron supplements include iron sucrose, iron dextrose, etc.).
2. Megaloblastic anemia: folic acid and vitamin B12 should be supplemented.
3. Hemolytic anemia: treat the cause of the disease: drugs, infections, blood transfusion, G6PD deficiency, etc. After the cause of the disease is controlled, the anemia can be gradually improved. If caused by drugs, the drugs should be stopped in time. If the anemia is caused by infection, anti-infection treatment such as levofloxacin should be used.
4. Aplastic anemia: immunosuppressive treatment (e.g. anti-lymphocyte/thymocyte globulin, cyclosporine, etc.), pro-hematopoietic treatment (e.g. androgens, hematopoietic growth factors, etc.) and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
5. Anemia caused by malignant blood diseases: for example, acute myeloid leukemia needs to be treated with chemotherapy such as cytarabine and erythromycin.
If complete blood routine suggests mild anemia, it is recommended to clarify the cause of the disease with the help of doctors and carry out targeted treatment or therapy, and the above drugs should not be used by oneself, but should be used in accordance with the doctor’s prescription.
