Dynamic MRI can comprehensively evaluate pelvic organ prolapse and is an important method to study the anatomy, morphology and motion of the pelvic floor in vivo. Non-invasive, non-radiologic, rapid, multi-site dynamic MRI is a major change in the field of MRI, which is important in clinical diagnosis, especially in the preoperative evaluation of pelvic multi-site defects and failure of surgical repair. The HMO pelvic organ imaging classification used in dynamic MRI realizes the standardized classification of pelvic organ prolapse, which provides an objective basis for evaluating the effectiveness of surgical treatment of pelvic organ prolapse diseases, and at the same time provides a research method for deeply understanding complex pelvic organ prolapse. Dynamic MRI has a high diagnostic compliance rate with simultaneous combined pelvic organography in the evaluation of bladder enlargement, uterovaginal prolapse, rectal prolapse, and intestinal hernia, and its major limitation in the evaluation of pelvic organ prolapse can be compensated by fecal imaging. Therefore, dynamic MRI combined with fecography should be the best imaging modality for the comprehensive evaluation of pelvic floor organ prolapse. In complex pelvic floor abnormalities involving multiple defects, dynamic MRI with fecography is a simple diagnostic method that, in addition to clinical evaluation, is useful in the interdisciplinary management of pelvic floor dysfunction. Background: With the development of society and the increase of average life expectancy, pelvic organ prolapse has gradually become a disease that affects people’s quality of life, and has attracted extensive attention from society and the medical field, so the examination and treatment of pelvic organ prolapse is a hot spot of domestic and international surgical research at present. R&D Frontier: At present, dynamic MRI has become one of the main imaging methods for patients with pelvic organ prolapse, and there is no unified diagnostic imaging standard for POP in China. Whether or not the relevant foreign evaluation system is suitable for our country and whether or not to put forward the diagnostic imaging standard in line with the racial situation of our country will be an important direction for future research. Related reports: Gao Xin et al. evaluated the diagnostic value of dynamic MRI examination technology for pelvic organ prolapse, the results in 46 cases of pelvic dynamic MRI examination, 43 cases of MRI diagnosis and clinical diagnosis. It was concluded that dynamic pelvic MRI can comprehensively evaluate the prolapse of pelvic organs, and can be used as a clinically effective method to evaluate pelvic floor function. Innovative point: The content of this paper basically covers the research progress of dynamic MRI evaluation of pelvic organ prolapse, and systematically researches the differences and similarities between the MRI evaluation method and the traditional clinical evaluation method, which is of some significance for clinical practice. Application point: The diagnosis of pelvic organ prolapse is mainly based on clinical examination results, and incorrect or incomplete diagnosis of POP often leads to inadequate or unreasonable treatment. Imaging has an irreplaceable role in this regard. In the past, the traditional X-ray contrast examination was mainly used, but with the rapid development of MRI technology, the shortcomings of the traditional examination methods have been overcome, and the advantages of MRI in evaluating the pelvic floor’s tissue structure and its lesions have been shown. Peer assessment: The topic of this review is novel and practical, provides comprehensive information, and is of guiding significance to the adoption of current clinical diagnostic methods.
