The organs in the upper abdomen of women are mainly the stomach, duodenum, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, etc. Theoretically, diseases of the above organs can cause upper abdominal pain, but the most common causes of upper abdominal pain are inflammation, erosion or ulcers of the stomach and duodenum, and tumors. There are also stony cholecystitis, cholangitis, and pancreatitis, all of which can cause pain in the upper abdomen. The location and nature of the pain varies from disease to disease. For example, calculous cholecystitis usually has pain in the right upper abdomen radiating to the right shoulder, and pain can be induced by eating a high-fat diet; ultrasound can assist in the diagnosis. Early appendicitis may also present with pain in the upper abdomen.
