A tingling, tightening sensation in the top of the head, often present throughout the day and night, with no relief, is due to the development of myotonic headaches. The disease is a common neurological disorder in which the muscles of the capitulum and the back of the neck under the patient’s scalp become chronically tense and contracted, typically with a sensation of hat-wearing and tightening of the head. Patients often suffer from sleep disturbances, such as excessive dreaming and difficulty falling asleep, and some patients have early awakening. Patients also tend to have anxiety, think about things a lot, and are easily irritable and lose their temper.
