Swelling of the outside of the throat may be a symptom of thyroiditis, cellulitis of the neck or thyroid cancer.
1. Thyroiditis: If thyroiditis is caused by a bacterial or viral infection, symptoms of swelling on the outside of the throat may occur.
2. Cellulitis of the neck: This disease can be caused by infection of the skin or soft tissue on the outside of the throat after an injury that causes infection with pathogenic bacteria such as hemolytic streptococcus and staphylococcus aureus. Superficial cellulitis on the outside of the throat may appear, with obvious redness, swelling, heat and pain locally, and the lesion expands rapidly.
3. Thyroid cancer: The cancerous tissue develops gradually, and there may be obvious enlargement of the outside of the throat, which is manifested as a lump in the neck, accompanied by swelling, pain and pressure.
In case of swelling on the outside of throat, there may be thyroglossal cyst, enlarged submandibular lymph nodes, etc. It is recommended to go to the local regular hospital as soon as possible for consultation and examination, so as to clearly diagnose the triggering disease and promptly cooperate with professional doctors to carry out standardized treatment, control the condition, and avoid further aggravation of the disease.
