What is the difference between lafutidine and omeprazole?

Lafutidine and omeprazole both belong to the inhibition of gastric acid drugs, they are different in drug classification, pharmacological effects, indications and so on. 1. Difference in drug classification: Lafutidine belongs to H2 receptor blockers and omeprazole belongs to proton pump inhibitors. 2. Pharmacological effects: Lafutidine can continuously inhibit gastric acid secretion caused by drugs or food, increase gastric mucosal blood flow, promote mucus secretion, so as to achieve the effect of repairing and protecting gastric mucosa. Omeprazole inhibits gastric acid secretion by specifically inhibiting the gastric acid pump (also known as proton pump) on the gastric mucosal wall cells. 3. Difference in indications: Lafutidine is mainly used for peptic ulcer diseases, such as gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, but also for acute or chronic gastritis. The indications of omeprazole are more extensive, in addition to gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, but also for GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), gastrinoma and so on. If patients need to take medication, they should go to the hospital, after a clear diagnosis by a physician, follow the doctor’s instructions to use medication, do not take medication on your own, so as not to cause damage to your health.
