What is a tumor

The term “tumor” is a colloquial term for what is clinically known as a tumor. Tumors include benign tumors and malignant tumors. The most common benign tumors in human body are lipomas, sebaceous cysts, etc., while malignant tumors mainly include carcinomas as well as sarcomas of mesenchymal tissue origin. The difference between benign and malignant tumors is mainly in the following four points: 1. Tumor cells of benign tumors are similar to normal cells, while malignant tumor cells are more different from normal cells and have greater variation. 2. The boundary of benign tumors is clearer, while the boundary of malignant tumors is unclear. 3. Benign tumors can be observed regularly and operated on electively, while malignant tumors need to be operated as soon as they are found to avoid metastasis. 4, Benign tumors can be cured by surgical resection, while malignant tumors have the possibility of postoperative metastasis and recurrence even if radical resection is performed.
