When is the most appropriate treatment for congenital heart disease?

Congenital heart disease (congenital heart disease) is a congenital malformation formed by abnormal development of the heart vessels during fetal life, and is the most common heart disease in pediatric patients. Congenital heart disease is divided into non-cyanotic congenital heart disease and cyanotic congenital heart disease. The most common type of non-cyanotic congenital heart disease is ventricular septal defect, and the most common symptoms are panic and shortness of breath after activity and easy to catch a cold. Large ventricular septal defects even present with recurrent pneumonia, heart failure, decreased activity tolerance, feeding difficulties, nutritional and developmental disorders, and a heart murmur may be heard on physical examination. The prominent manifestation of cyanotic congenital heart disease is cyanosis, which can persist after birth or gradually become obvious 3 to 4 months after birth, and is most obvious in the lips of the mouth, finger (toe) nail bed and the tip of the nose, while latent cyanotic heart disease usually does not have cyanosis, but only appears when moving, crying, holding the breath or suffering from pneumonia, and persistent cyanosis can appear when pulmonary hypertension and right heart failure occur in late stages. If parents find that their child has the above symptoms, they should go to the hospital as early as possible, and once the diagnosis of congenital heart disease is confirmed, the doctor should decide the timing of surgery. The best time to treat congenital heart disease is before school age At present, the medical profession mainly adopts two kinds of treatment methods: surgical treatment and medical interventional treatment for congenital heart disease. The best time to treat most congenital heart diseases is before school age. Take ventricular septal defect as an example, for large ventricular septal defect with recurrent heart failure, if medical treatment is ineffective, surgery can be performed 1-3 months after birth; for large ventricular septal defect with recurrent pulmonary infection and progressive increase in pulmonary artery pressure, surgery can be performed 3-6 months after birth; for general ventricular septal defect, surgery can be performed from 2 years old to preschool age; for small For children with small ventricular septal defects without any symptoms, they can wait for observation until preschool age, and if they still do not heal on their own, they must undergo surgery to prevent endocarditis. Seize the opportunity for timely treatment The treatment of precardiac disease is based on direct cardiac surgery, and except for a few simple precardiac diseases, the vast majority have to undergo surgery to achieve radical cure. Take the example of tetralogy of Fallot, which accounts for 12%-14% of congenital heart disease and is the most common type of cyanotic congenital heart disease. The indications for corrective surgery for tetralogy of Fallot are not age-restricted and satisfactory results can be obtained from newborns to adults, but 70% of patients who do not undergo surgery die within 10 weeks of age. Therefore, patients’ families should be aware that they must seize the best time for treatment and choose to receive treatment at a regular hospital and choose an experienced and skilled surgeon to operate on the patient. Take the Wanfeng Doctor Group, the first domestic doctor group, as an example. As the top cardiac surgeon in China, Professor Wan Feng led his team to be the first to perform nine of the first difficult heart surgeries in China. His doctor group, which brings together dozens of cardiologists from tertiary hospitals in China, has now been renamed Shenzhou Hyde Medical Group and is particularly good at treating valve disease, precordial disease and coronary artery disease. Most congenital heart diseases can now be treated satisfactorily through surgery, and the success rate is high. A child with congenital heart disease, if treated effectively in time, has every possibility to study and work and start a family just like any other healthy child.
